The injection known as Botox® is a purified, heat-treated neurotoxin agent (nerve agent) which is produced by the A type of Clostridium Botulinum. Injected directly into the facial muscles, Botox® restricts muscle movement and the further development of wrinkles for a period of 4 to 6 months.
Expressly developed for diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, and comprised of large molecular weight vehicles, Botox® is dosed with a very fine hypodermic needle to ensure accuracy, and will remain in even the smallest facial muscles without migration.
Deep character wrinkles are visibly smoothed a few days after the treatment, providing excellent results for wrinkles on the forehead, around the bridge of the nose, between the eyebrows and on flabby and pendulous skin around the eyes, resulting in a diminished appearance of the “angry” look, and giving the appearance of “opened” eyes. Botox® can also be used to prevent the “saggy” downward movement of facial muscles, and treatment to specific locations around the mouth can replace a downturned mouth with a more attractive upturned look.
If the treatment is maintained for optimal results, some facial muscles will partially atrophy, contracting for longer periods between treatments and thereby reducing the frequency of required treatments. Botox® treatments can help in delaying the visible effects of aging and the need for surgical treatment.
Botox® treatments should be administered by a qualified practitioner.
